  15. Space Explorer is a screen saver where various planets
  16. and space objects fly over the screen(the window of a
  17. space ship).  It provides sound effect when an object hits
  18. the ship. It also provide a optional background music when 
  19. the saver is enabled.  
  20.  
  21. What is NEW in this version: This version will allow you
  22. to adjust the distance between a planet and your spaceship.
  23. This means that you can almost "land" on to the planet if you
  24. set the Distance to its minimum. If you have a huge planet image
  25. with wonderful details you may see some "Life" (Being) on the
  26. planet. Most of planet overlaping is avoid so that you can get
  27. a better view of universe.  More space ships are provided by
  28. this version.

  31. There are several options available:
  32.   1). Collision -- The ship will be hit by a variety of
  33.       Space object such as meteors, Shooting stars,
  34.       space ships when this option is on. You can make 
  35.       your star trek safer by setting the frequency of 
  36.       collision to the minimum. 
  37.   2). Star War -- The ship will attach coming space objects
  38.       with its laser gun when this option is enabled. You
  39.       can stop the Star War by setting the frequency of 
  40.       shooting to the minimum.
  41.   3). Sound Effects -- Space Explorer will provide sound
  42.       effects for laser shooting and collision with this
  43.       option on. Music will be turn off when this option
  44.       is on.
  45.   4). Background Music -- You can enjoy a background music
  46.       when Space Explorer is enabled.
  47.   5). Import Your Own Space Object -- You can import up to
  48.       200 your own space objects in the setup screen.
  49.   6). Import Your Own background music --  You can import 
  50.       your favorite music in the setup screen.

  52. The SETUP.EXE will copy five files into your windows directory:

  54.  space.src      -- The main executable file of Space Explorer;
  55.  space.txt      -- Documentation file;
  56.  
  57.  collide.wav    -- Wave file required for collision sound effect;
  58.  hi.wav         -- Wave file required for spaceman talk;
  59.  music.wav      -- Wave file required for background music; 
  60.  register.wav   -- Wave file for register;

  63.  - planet14.bmp -- BMP files for space objects;

  65.  saverv.exe -- Savervisor (see description below);

  80. Savervisor(V3.0) is a Screen Saver and Wall Paper Manager packed 
  81. with Space Explorer. It provides following functions:
  82.  
  83.   - It appears as an icon that allows you launch a screen saver
  84.     instantly by a single click of RIGHT mouse button. Note: You
  85.     have to select a saver in Savervisor's setup screen in order
  86.     to have Savervisor launch when clicking at its icon with RIGHT
  87.     mouse button.
  88.  
  89.   - It allows you specify the sensitive areas where you can click
  90.     the RIGHT mouse button to launch a saver instantly.
  91.  
  92.   - It provide saver scheduling capability.  That is, it allows
  93.     you specify what saver to be activate at a specified hour
  94.     through a week.  It also allows you switch savers through
  95.     all the savers in your Windows directory and specify switchng
  96.     period.

  98.   - It can be run in a INVISIBLE mode. With this great feature,
  99.     you can just put it into Windows Startup group in Program 
  100.     Manager and forget it: It will take care all the management 
  101.     tasks while you never realize it is working for you!
  102.  
  103.   - It can be set to "Always on top" to increase your
  104.     accessibility to its features.
  105.  
  106.   - It can display(illustrate) all the screen savers in your
  107.     Windows directory in different styles(ONCE, CIRCLE, and RANDOM).

  109.   - It works as the saver section of Windows Desktop
  110.     allowing you select, setup, and test a screen saver from
  111.     within its setup screen.
  112.  
  113.   - It provides a very strong wall paper management capability.
  114.  
  115.     First, it allows you to specify any BMP files as your
  116.     Wallpaper from anywhere of your file system(including hard,
  117.     network, and CD drives) in a particular hour through a week.
  118.     
  119.     Secondly, it allows you schedule BMP files as your 
  120.     Wallpaper by specifying switching period through your
  121.     file system.

  124.     Finally, it can "walk" you through the entire file system
  125.     (including hard, network, and CD drives).  That is, it
  126.     displays all the BMP files in your file system one after 
  127.     another as wall paper - You can see exactly how the BMP file 
  128.     looks as a Wallpaper on your screen instead of a single BMP 
  129.     image(specially, when Tile function is set). You can choose 
  130.     from either automatic or clicking to switch images when BMP is 
  131.     illustrated.

  133.   - It also provides some other function such as tile setting.

  137. How to use Savervisor:
  138.  
  139.   - There are at least three ways to use it:
  140.       1). Always running and INVISIBLE.  You can set its running
  141.           mode into INVISIBLE and put it into Startup group of 
  142.           Windows Program Manager so that Savervisor is launched 
  143.           automatically when you start your Windows.  In this way, 
  144.           Savervisor will work in background - You will never see 
  145.           it while it is working for you: carrying out all the tasks 
  146.           according to you Saver schedule and Wallpaper
  147.           schedule, launching savers instantly when you click the
  148.           RIGHT mouse button at the area you specify.
  149.

  151.       2). Always running but visible. In this way, you can access
  152.           setup screen of Savervisor by a double click at its 
  153.           running icon#. For easy access, you can set it ALWAYS ON TOP.
  154.       3). Use it to setup you wall paper or select a screen saver
  155.           and turn it off after setup.
  156.  
  157.   - After Launching Savervisor from Program Manager, You will see
  158.     an animation icon at the top left corner of your screen if
  159.     it is set to visible mode. Note: But you will see nothing
  160.     if it is set to INVISIBLE mode.  In this case, You can
  161.     launch Savervisor one more time if you like to bring up
  162.     its setup screen in order to turn it into visible mode or
  163.     change setting of Savervisor. After you launch it second
  164.     time, the running icon will appear so that you can double
  165.     click at it to bring up the setup screen.

  167.    - To access Savervisor's setup screen, you need to double
  168.      click at the running icon.
  169.  
  170.    - You must bring up the setup screen of Savervisor in order
  171.      to turn it off.
  172.  
  173.    - Clicking the RIGHT mouse button on the Savervisor icon or
  174.      any sensitive areas that you specify will enable the 
  175.      current screen saver in Windows Desktop and selecting any 
  176.      screen saver in the setup screen of Savervisor has the some 
  177.      effect of selecting a saver in Windows Desktop.

  179. The setup.exe will allow you to specify the target directory
  180. where the Savervisor will reside and create a group for Savervisor in
  181. Program Manager.  It will copy following files into the target directory:
  182.  
  183.   saverv.exe - Savervisor;
  184.   readme.txt - this file;
  185.   saverv.txt - the same as this file but used by setup screen of 
  186.                Savervisor;
  187.   regist.wav - WAV used to setup screen;
  188.   utility1.dll - an utility required by Savervisor.

  191.  Why use Savervisor with Space Explorer?
  192.    There are at least two reasons to use Savervisor with Space Explorer:
  193.       1). Savervisor enable you to launch Space Explorer instantly by a
  194.           single RIGHT mouse button click.
  195.       2). Savervisor provides schedule system which allows you
  196.           arrange your favorite savers and wallpaper in your style.
  197.       3). Its INVISIBLE feature allows you to "forget " it while
  198.           it is working for you.

  204. TroubleShooting:
  205.     -  Q: I have a multimedia system, with .WAV capability, and
  206.           in fact, 
  207.           I hear .WAV files with most every application.  
  208.           Why can I NOT hear sounds with your screen saver?  
  209.           (The Sounds option is grayed out, and I cannot check
  210.            it.)
  211.        A: The Saver disables Sound option if it does not detect a
  212.           sound device that it knows. You can enforce it accepts
  213.           you sound system by following steps:
  214.               1). disable (turn off) the saver;
  215.               2). open (double click at icon of) file            
  216.  
  217.                   c:\windows\space.ini
  218.                   (assuming c:\windows is your Windows directory)
  219.                    in your windows File Manager;
  220.               3). change 
  221.                       EnforceSoundOn= 0
  222.                   into
  223.                       EnforceSoundOn= 1
  224.               4). save and close the file;       
  225.               5.) bring up the setup screen of the saver;
  226.               6). check (enable) field "Sound On";
  227.               7). click at OK to exit the setup screen of the
  228.                   saver;
  229.       
  230.     Q:  I have downloaded your screen saver recently 
  231.         and I was having a problem with getting it to work properly.  
  232.         After initialising I get a message "... caused a general 
  233.         protection fault in module VGA.DRV at 0001:0ca2". 
  234.   
  235.     A:  Changed your screen drivber in winsetup to SVGA.

  238. How to register Space Explorer:
  239. ================
  240.  You can register Space Explorer in Compuserve using SWREG
  241.  #4566: Just GO SWREG and use 4566 to register.  After you register
  242.  in Compuserv, I will EMail you the Registration Code.  You can
  243.  then key it into the Registration Code field of the Registration
  244.  screen in setups of Space Explorer and Savervisor.

  270. 30 times - then you have to register if you still want to use
  271. it.  There are two ways to register Savervisor:
  272.       1). After register Space Explorer in Compuserve.  You can use
  273.           the Registration Code for Space Explorer to register
  274.           both Space Explorer and Savervisor. you will then receive 
  275.           limited functions provided by Savervisor.(The functions
  276.           above marked with * are not available if you register
  277.           Savervisor with the Registration Code for Space Explorer.)
  278.       2). To enable its functions completely you need to register
  279.           Savervisor using SWREG #4880 in Compuserve.
